In Celebration of Rivers

The river delights to lift us free, if only we dare to let go. Our true work is this voyage, this adventure. — (Richard Bach, Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah)

There are many ways to salvation, and one of them is to follow a river. — (David Brower, Foreword to Oregon Rivers by Larry Olson and John Daniel)

Wild rivers are earth’s renegades, defying gravity, dancing to their own tunes, resisting the authority of humans, always chipping away, and eventually always winning. — (Richard Bangs & Christian Kallen, River Gods)

****I spent Independence Day riverside, peaceful and free….a little photography (these shots are long exposures with no editing) and a lot of love make for a perfect day…even with a few rain showers. I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

  1. Suzi, I love the quotes woven between each photograph! And may I also say…FAAAAAAAAAAAABULOUS photographs! BRAVA, my friend! They’re OUTSTANDING!

Glad you had a wonderful 4th of July. Sounded like a perfect day!

  2. I’m moved by the beauty you captured in your photos. My seven-year-old grandson went hiking in the mountains this weekend, and when he told me about climbing beside the waterfall and crossing the creek on a fallen log, I was transported back to the camping trips of my childhood.

  3. I think my favorite quote is “Sit by a river. Find peace and meaning in the rhythm of the lifeblood of the Earth.” Your Fourth sounds practically perfect. Nothing beats sitting beside flowing water, whether it’s a river, lake, or ocean. We renew our spirits when we surround ourselves with beauty and peace, don’t we, Suzi?!

  4. These photographs are spectacular, Susan. Something comforting and relaxing about staring at the greenery and water. Thanks for sharing them with us.

  5. Suzi, your photo’s are stunningly beautiful.. and each quote just perfect.. I liked Richard Bach.. and have that book along with several others by him.. And no truer word spoken about letting Go … I am so embracing letting Go right now :-D…. 😀 and going with the Flow!! 🙂 I am so happy our own paths crossed as we float down our separate yet joined rivers of life.. Love and Blessings to you xx Sue
