We often only peek through the curtains of life.
We are afraid to open them wide and let the world in.
We hide in the shadows and catch a glimpse now and then.
Maybe we’re afraid we will see the truth, the truth of those around us.
Possibly we don’t want to see the situation for what it is.
Life is not always ideal. We don’t always get our way. Health issues arise. We lose jobs. We argue with friends. Nastiness lurks in the corridors, temptation lingers, tempers flare, and obstacles attack us head on. We will always struggle from time to time.
It is what we take from the struggle that is most important, that being the choices we make. Compromise is inevitable.
How we arrive at that compromise is where truth is exposed. Power is used and abused. Sacrifices are made. Character is revealed.
As a result our lives change. How we handle transition tells our story.
Do we keep our integrity intact? Do we make decisions at the cost of others?
We might prefer to avoid the nastiness and drama and see the good in all. While it is right to focus on the positives of life, sometimes we have to face the nature of things.
We have to stare the ugly truth in the face. Sometimes things are not at all as they seem.
In those times, may God grant us the strength to do what we know must be done.
Pull back the curtains. Let truth unfold. Deal with it.
Remember it all comes down to love.
And love is truly all that matters.
Living in the Gap
January 13, 2012 – The Rising Sun
Pink glowed through the tree branches in the distance. As I watched it got brighter and melded into yellow until an orange aura rose into view. The illumination grew as the sun stretched its arms among the trees branches reaching high into the azure sky. Suddenly it loomed large and bright and the sky seemed to relax into its spell.
