My two year old goddaughter is a picky eater. She doesn’t like many foods. Her favorite foods are soup, black olives, waffles, and bananas. She only eats what she wants when she wants it. I tell her that I’m not a short-order cook. She doesn’t get it.
I noticed she had a mouthful of something (but what) when I sat her in her chair for lunch. I got a closer look, and crap, it was dry dog food! I tried to swipe it out of her mouth, but she jerked her head away and swallowed. I realize she and the dog are inseparable, but must they eat the same food?
I then gave her chicken nuggets for lunch. She threw them at me and yelled “more”. I asked her why she threw them at me if she wanted them. She shook her head no and repeated “more” and added “dog food”. Again she demanded “more dog food”. Of course, I refused to give it to her. And the stubborn little girl refused to eat anything because she wasn’t getting what she wanted.
What the heck? The finicky little stinker likes dog food. Now, I have to explain to her parents that I fed their child dog food and apparently she loves it!
It was salmon and sweet potatoes. Good for you, right? It WAS gourmet/organic dog food, and I paid top dollar for it. That makes it ok, right?

Pick me up from the floor laughing…Leave it to a toddler to discover a new food category. That is pretty funny. You will be telling that story for a long time. I really enjoyed this post.
Your dog looks enormous next to your God daughter-wow.

My first thought when reading this was “Oh, you’re going to get a LOT of mileage out of this story when she’s a teenager!”
Cracked me and Beloved up.

Too much! I was sitting at my sister in law’s house over the holidays eating random things from bowls on the counter. At one point I reached for a containter of dog food. A) what the hell was it doing up there? and B) it looked like chex mix for pete’s sake!

Well, first Dirt Man eats the doggie ice cream so why shouldn’t she eat the dog FOOD? Do you remember when yours stayed with me once and ate the dog’s heartworm medicine? And when I called poison control they told me they should be fine “as long as they weren’t be treated for any OTHER kind of worms”?? HUH? I can’t remember now whether it was eldest or youngest? LOL

Oh, btw, my middle one ate one of those doggie biscuits that came in the mail once and didn’t understand why I wouldn’t buy some for her because she loved it!

Have you ever tried dog food?? Ahem.
Hey what if you put chicken nuggets in the dog bowl then presented it to her. Hmm?
She is too stinkin’ cute. Let her cake or whatever she wants. I’m such a softie. Haha.

A meal of dog food probably delivers more nutrition than many two year olds get from their notably odd eating habits!
At times, my son seems to subsist only on the color beige – if it’s beige (macaroni and cheese, bagels, toast with butter, crackers), he eats it; if not, forget about it.

Ha, I’m not surprised.
My picky toddler would probably do the same.

LMAO! And I thought my kids were strange! We won’t tell social services on you. At least she’s eating. And it’s organic.

I’m sorry, but that’s about the funniest thing I’ve read ever! And truly, the dog food is probably more nutritious than the nuggets

That absolutely makes it ok. It’s probably better for her than the nuggets.

My father still loves to tell the story of how I used to feed our dog Gaines Burger by hand. One bite for the dog, one bite for me.
Of course, I deny that the incident ever occured.

You are going to be able to embarrass that child with that story for years to come. Just wait until she is a teen “Remember when you ate dog food and then liked it so much you asked for more dog food.” Oh, she played right into your hands.
